Opichka, Molly M.

Molly M. Opichka, age 90, of 2226 Menasha Avenue, Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning, February 20, 2013 at her residence.

She was born on March 23, 1922 in the town of Franklin, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late John and Anna (Sauer) Sleger. On May 27, 1941 she married Quirin F. Opichka at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1998. The couple farmed in the town of Cooperstown until 1963 when they moved to Manitowoc. She was employed with Mirro Corporation for 17 years until her retirement in the spring of 1984. Molly volunteered for 20 years at St. Vincent DePaul. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and the St. Clare Society. Molly was also a member of the Catholic Knights.

Survivors include a daughter: Bea Novak, Manitowoc; three sons and a daughter-in-law: John & Mary Rae Opichka, Fond du Lac, David (Kevin Long) Opichka, Neenah, Mark Opichka, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren: Sheila (Dean) Halverson, Randy (Brenda) Novak, Tom (Treasa) Novak, Wayne (Lori) Opichka, Steven (Jenny) Opichka, Karen Opichka, Jeffrey (Shannon) Opichka; ten great grandchildren: Michael, Lea, Megan, Kirsten, Adam, Travis, Danny, Olivia, Clara, Emmett; one great great grandson: Ethan; a brother and sister-in-law: Robert & Ida Sleger, Kellnersville; and a sister: Vi Stetson, Kellnersville. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by an infant son: Darrel; a daughter-in-law: Judith Opichka; a son-in-law: Richard Novak; a great grandson: Spc. Shaun Novak; two nephews: Russell Sleger & Allen Petska; and four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Victor & Martha Opichka, Joseph & Grace Polak, Raymond Petska and Arlin Stetson.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William Van Dynhoven with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Kellnersville.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc, from 9:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 until 10:45 a.m.
