Raymond J. Krutzik
Raymond J. Krutzik, 94, of Kiel, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Sharon Richardson Community Hospice. Ray was born December 27, 1918 to Richard & Anna (Nottling) Krutzik in rural Elkhart Lake. He was a graduate of Tony High School WI. Ray served his country during WWII
, from July 1941 to December 1945, as a Sergeant in the 126th General Hospital in the Philippines.
Ray married Alice Krueger May 24, 1952 and enjoyed 57 years of sharing their time, talents, jokes, and stories with the community and their family.
He worked at Tecumseh Products Co. for 28 years until his retirement in 1981. He was extremely active in the Kiel VFW
Post 6707, serving as quartermaster for over 20 years. He also enjoyed being a member of the Firing Squad, which honored deceased Veterans, with his biggest honor of handing the flag to the spouse or family of the person being honored. After his retirement, he founded the breakfast club for all retired VFW members to gather once a month for good fellowship.
Ray was also very involved with Boy Scouts, Little League baseball as a coach. Many will remember Ray walking Fremont Street as Santa Claus helping the local businesses get in the spirit of the season and seeing the glow in children's eyes when they saw him. Ray also enjoyed calling bingo for the Kiel Middle School at the area nursing homes for many years and loved to play horseshoes, golf, and bowl.
Ray is survived by two sons, Rich (Jane) Krutzik of Elkhorn, Wisconsin and their children, Ben (Bridget), Anna (Andrew) Sampers, Emilie, and Daniel; Warren (Ellen) Krutzik of Kiel, and their children Joshua and Kayla Keller and her fiancé Ted Wentz. He is also survived by one great-granddaughter, Mirabelle. He is further survived by one sister, Evelyn Uhen, of Franklin,; one brother-in-law, Stan(Kathy) Krueger of Jupiter Florida; one sister-in-law, Marge Krueger of Chilton, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, his parents, Richard and Anna, his sister and brother-in-law, Henry and Anna Bunge, one sister-in-law Ellen Kumbalek, and brothers-in-law Leo Uhen, Norman Krueger, and Richard Kumbalek.
Funeral services for Ray will be held at 12:00 (noon) on Thursday January 31, 2013 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home 815 6th St. Kiel with Fr. Norman Krutzik officiating. Burial with follow at Kiel City Cemetery with Military Honors performed by Kiel VFW Post 6707. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00am until the time of services.
The family would like to thank the Kiel Ambulance Service, Dr. David Deubler, Field of Dreams Assisted Living, and the Sharon Richardson Community Hospice for their compassionate care for Ray. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the VFW Post 6707 in Kiel.
