Kiefer, Richard (Dick)

Richard John Kiefer, age 70, passed away on September 17, 2013 due to complications from a motorcycle accident in Homestead, FL, where he resided for the last 28 years.

He was born on March 28, 1943 in Two Rivers, WI, to Paul and Pearl Kiefer. He graduated from Washington High School and soon after, started bartending at Port Sandy Bay for a number of years. In October of 1965, he married Jane Lyons. After serving his country from 1964 to 1966, he moved to New Holstein, where he was employed at Tecumseh and the Kiel Post Office, eventually making his home in Kiel. He was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

In 1985, he moved to Homestead, FL and worked at the United States Post Office until his retirement in 1998. After retirement, his favorite past-time was riding his Harley and enjoying life with his many friends and family.

He is survived by his loving girlfriend, Laura; four daughters, Robin Multer and longtime boyfriend, Jim Dyke of Waldo, WI; Sarah (Brad) Schmitz and their children, Jacob and Lily; Jennifer (Tim) Heus and their children, Sophia and Andrew all of Kiel, WI; Jamie (Freddie) Perez and their children, Anthony and Jade of Gainesville, FL; and Samantha and Emma Kiefer of Slinger, WI. He is further survived by his sister, Doris Schultz and brothers, Jerome (Rosie) Kiefer and Ronald Taddy.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Kiefer, his parents, his stepfather, Norbert Taddy and a brother, Jim Kiefer.

A memorial service to celebrate Dick's life will be held at the Kiel VFW Hall from 6:00-8:00PM on Friday, October 11, 2013. The Kiel VFW Post 6707 will provide Military Rights after visitation. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Dick's name.
