Brother Miles (John) Brainer, O.F.M., age 79, a Manitowoc resident, died Saturday, April 7, 2012 at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc.

John was born in East Chicago, Indiana, on September 23, 1932. He was one of two children born to Casimir Brajner and his wife Mary (Maksymczak). John's entire elementary school education took place at St. John Cantius School, East Chicago, Indiana, 1937-1945. He then attended Bishop Noll High School, Hammond, from 1946 to 1950. In April of 1951, following a year as a pipe-fitter's apprentice, he sought admission to the Franciscans and was accepted in July of 1951.
Survivors include his brother-friars of the Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Province. He was also preceded in death by a brother: Eugene Brajner.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Blessed Angela Chapel at St. Mary's Felician Village, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. James Gannon with burial at Provincial Cemetery, Pulaski.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Blessed Angela Chapel at St. Mary's Felician Village, Manitowoc, from 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 until 12:00 noon.
