Charles (Charlie) N. Klinkner, age 84 of Manitowoc, died at home on May 16 2013, in the loving care of his family.
Charlie was the son of Jack and Charlotte (Panzram) Klinkner. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School. On May 5, 1951 he married Dorothy A Kries in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on December 8, 1999. He also served in the Army in the early 50's.
Charlie was a long time employee of the Manitowoc School District and retired in 1981 as a custodian at Stangel Elementary School. He also was an EMT for many years with Manitowoc Ambulance. During his early years he was very active in Sea Scouting and was an avid sailor. He enjoyed hunting and spending time in the UP at his brother's cabin with family. He also enjoyed wood working projects, building items for his granddaughters, whom he loved dearly. He was a former member of the Manitowoc Yacht Club and was also a past Commodore.
Survivors include four children and families: Michael and Joan Klinkner, Appleton, Steven and Sue Klinkner, Manitowoc, Susan Muchowski, Ashwaubenon, Patrick and Claire Klinkner, Green Bay; nine grandchildren: Lisa (Troy) Bishop, Valerie (Ben) Baker, Kristin Klinkner and husband Steve Kranitz, Kimberly (special friend Jeff) Klinkner, Katie (and fiancée Joe) Klinkner, Angela (special friend Darrin) Mohr, Alissa Muchowski, Jennifer (fiancée Aaron) Klinkner, Nicole (special friend Raj) Klinkner; honorary granddaughter: Sarah (Kevin) Bradway; seven great grandchildren: Griffin Charles Bishop, Alana and Jacob Baker, Jack and James Krantiz, Rylee Mohr and Addison Oswald; two honorary great grandchildren: Hailey and Caitlyn Oswald. Also surviving family, one brother: John M of Manitowoc; brother-in-law: Robert Kries of Allouez; one niece; three nephews and their families, other relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand. Officiating at the mass will be Rev. Richard Klingeisen with inurnment of Charlie's cremated remains to take place at Calvary Mausoleum at a later date.
The Family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
