Clarence Bartel, age 90, of Century Ridge, Chilton, formerly of Hilbert, died on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. He was born August 21, 1921 in the town of Rantoul, son of the late Herman and Augusta (Krueger) Bartel. He attended Potter School. Clarence married Grace Jarabek on June 5, 1943 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Reedsville. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He farmed in the town of Rantoul until 1956 when he moved to Hilbert and worked for Wispride Cheese Company, retiring in 1974. Clarence was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert. He is survived by a daughter Donna Bennin of Appleton and a son Wayne (Karla) Bartel of Chilton, seven grandchildren: Erica (Bill) Szczepanski, Kelly (Brad) Hieptas, Jason Bennin, Beka, Chris, Nic and Elizabeth Bartel. Two great-grandchildren: Grayson and Brayden Hieptas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Grace on May 21, 2010, a son-in-law Ron Bennin in 1993, two brothers and five sisters. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert. The Rev. Bob Kollath will officiate. Burial will take place in the St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. with mass at 11:00 a.m. The Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion is assisting the family with arrangements.
