Zimmerman, Dorothy

Dorothy P. Zimmerman, age 89, formerly of Ottumwa, IA, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, WI.

Dorothy was born January 7, 1926 in Copan, OK, daughter of the late Clyde and Blanche (Heady) Maxwell. On June 7, 1953 she was united in marriage to Raymond A. Zimmerman in Tulsa, OK.

Dorothy loved her family and friends. She loved life and passionately pursued a number of hobbies and activities. She was an avid gardener and quilter; and a life-long reader. She was a member of the Shakespeare Club, the Ottumwa Art Club, and various book clubs.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years Raymond A. Zimmerman, Manitowoc, WI; her children: Curt (Janet) Zimmerman, Newport Beach, CA; Julie (Dr. Mike) McCormick, Manitowoc, WI; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Memorial services were held on Monday, August 31, 2015 at St. Angelas Chapel at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, WI. Officiating at the service was the Rev. Kim Henning. Cremation has taken place and Dorothy's cremated remains will be laid to rest at a later date.

Aunt Dot, we just learned you passed away last August. Though we lived several states apart, thank you for being a strong voice in my life when I was in my teens. Though you will be missed for the rest of our lives, I take comfort knowing that you are home. Jennifer (Davis) Harmon, OSB
