Gerald P. "Jerry" Schultz, age 85, of 2128 35th St., Two Rivers, died peacefully, Wednesday morning, June 12, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born February 10, 1928, in Manitowoc, son of the late Joseph G. and Marie M. (Kattner) Schultz. He graduated from Two Rivers Washington High School with the class of 1946. Jerry then served in the U.S. Army, with the engineers division, serving in both Germany and Austria from 1946 to 1948. On November 5, 1949, he married Gladys Peterson at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Jerry completed a four year tool and die maker apprenticeship program at the start of his employment with Mirro Aluminum Co., where he retired in 1993, after 45 years, as the superintendant of the machine shop. Jerry served as Past President of the Washington House in Two Rivers, the Management Club, and the Holy Redeemer School Board. He also served on the City of Two Rivers Police and Fire Commision and was active with the Two Rivers Main Street Program. He was very active at his church, serving as the head of the usher committee, and was a member of the Men of St. Peter the Fisherman. He enjoyed the sheepshead and bridge marathon groups, and loved to play cribbage; he especially enjoyed the Monday morning card club with the guys. Jerry played the saxophone in the Two Rivers Municipal Band for 66 years; he also played the piano and accordion; and loved to travel.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys; two daughters & sons-in-law, Paula and Lonnie Draheim of Manitowoc and Karen and Steve Doerr of Naperville, IL; four grandchildren: Heather (Zak) Domrath of Ankeny, Iowa, Tyler Draheim of New Berlin & special friend, Amanda McFall, Abbie Doerr of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, and Andy Doerr of Naperville, IL; two great granddaughters: Lindsey and Maddie Domrath. He is further survived by a brother-in-law, Don (Jeanne) Peterson, Pewaukee; three sisters-in-law, Bernita (Jack) Kuntze, Rockford, Ill., Priscilla (Hal) Mapes, McKinney, Tex., and Sande Peterson, Rockford, Ill., along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law,Harold and Mary Peterson; a granddaughter: Lindsey Draheim and a sister-in-law, Jean (Ken) Schmitt.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3218 Tannery Rd., Two Rivers. Concelebrating the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Tom Reynebeau and Rev. Dick Mauthe, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Military graveside rites will be accorded by members of the American Legion Post #165 and VFW Post # 1248 of Two Rivers.

Friends may call at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St., Two Rivers, Sunday evening, June 16, 2013, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Mass at 2:00 p.m.

The Schultz family extends a special thank you to Holy Family Memorial Home Care, especially Keri & Sara; Holy Family Hospice, especially Nicole, Brenda and Becky; and the nurses, doctors, Chaplain Rahlf, and staff of Holy Family Memorial Medical Center for the compassionate care shown to our dad and our family.
