Gregory W. Voysey, 89 of Manitowoc, died May 8, 2012 at River Woods Estates. A memorial service and family visitation will be Saturday, May 19, 11 am, at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels in Two Rivers, 1506 18th St.

Greg was born June 17, 1922 in Fond du Lac, WI. He earned his GED in Two Rivers and graduated with honors from 8th grade at Elmwood School in Langlade County. In 1938 he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) which helped his family survive The Depression. Later he worked in a cabinet shop in Sturgeon Bay where he learned woodworking.
In 1942 during WW II, he entered the US Army as an artillery operator and went ashore at Normandy six days after the invasion. He injured his leg in 1944 in Germany and spent more than a year hospitalized in Vancouver, WA.
After the war, he purchased a farm in Gleason and attended University of Wisconsin Agricultural School on the G.I. Bill. He served on the board of the Gleason Consolidated School District. In 1948 he married Katherine (Boots) Jansen.
In 1953 they sold the farm and moved to Kewaunee where he began working for Hamilton Manufacturing which had a plant there.
In 1956 he moved to Two Rivers where he continued working for Hamilton and was promoted to several managerial positions before retiring in 1986.Greg was the last supervisor of Hamilton's Wood Type Division which inspired the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum.
Greg was the frequent and amusing emcee at the company's management club meetings and other company activities. Throughout his life he was known for his sense of humor and ability to tell a good story.
He and wife Boots lived in Largo, FL for several years after retirement. She died in 2001.
He is survived by children Georgia Helmick of Des Moines, IA; Terrance (Vida) Voysey of Two Rivers; Curtis (Kathy) Voysey of Largo, FL; and Kevin Voysey of Two Rivers. He is also survived by grandchildren Jason Voysey and Justin Voysey of Clearwater, FL; Bryn Voysey of Two Rivers; Dayna (Voysey) Nienow of Manitowoc, and Chance Voysey of Two Rivers.
He was preceeded in death by his wife Boots; parents Frances and Clyde Voysey; brothers Raymond Voysey; Gary Voysey, and Jack Voysey and sister Marguerite Walker.
Gregory was a loving father and grandfather and will be missed deeply by his family.
