Knutson Riesterer, Kathryn M.

Kathryn M. Knutson Riesterer, age 95, of Brillion, formerly of Valders, died on Sunday evening, October 13, 2013, at Brillion West Haven.

Kathryn was born December 5, 1917, in Iona, MN, daughter of the late Nicholas and Anna (Schoo) Dondlinger. She graduated from West Division High School in Milwaukee. She served with U.S. Navy WAVES during WWII from 1944-1946. On October 4, 1948, she married Alton Knutson in Dubuque, IA. He preceded her in death November 4, 1986. On November 3, 1990, she married Herman Riesterer in Valders. He preceded her in death March 9, 2004. Kathryn was a secretary for Farm Bureau Rural Insurance for 20 years and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years. Kate's family meant the world to her. She was a caring, compassionate, generous person.

Survivors include her children and their spouses: Carl (Jeanne) Knutson, Manitowoc; Kary (Richard) Panke, Appleton; Edwin (Mary) Knutson, Reedsville; Alice (Gary) Koerth, Brillion; David (Colleen) Knutson, Vail, AZ; 10 grandchildren: Eric (Itzell) Knutson, Nick Knutson, Nathan Panke, Brian (Dea) Panke, Edwin (Jenny) Knutson, Jason (Michelle) Koerth, Laura (Scott) Treichel, Aaron (Jessie) Koerth, Cara (Patrick) Wallace, Craig Knutson (fiancee Roxanne Schwandt); a special granddaughter: Mariel Guenther;19 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; step children: Richard (Mary) Riesterer, Chilton; Carol (Tom) Waniger, Valders; Leo (Faye) Riesterer, St. Nazianz; Meg (Dave) Kubesh, Danube, MN; and Mary(Mark) Matthias, Manitowoc; brother: Leo Dondlinger; sisters: Mary Mella, Theresa Taylor, Jean Krentz; four sisters-in-law: Rosella Dondlinger, Carole Dondlinger, Theown Dondlinger and Dorothy Dondlinger. Many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

She was also preceded in death by brothers: Norbert, Hilary, John, and Francis Dondlinger; sisters-in-law: Geraldine Dondlinger, Myrtle Anderson, Dorothy Kloster, Ellen Johnson, Phyllis Pokorsky; brothers-in-law: Florian Mella, W. E. Taylor, Lawrence Kloster, Harold Anderson, Gordon Johnson, James Pokorsky, and James Krentz.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Faith Lutheran Church in Valders, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Faith Lutheran Church in Valders. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Robert Wilkinson. Burial will be at Gjerpen Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88 of Manitowoc.
