Ken G. Detrie

Ken G. Detrie, 73, of Lena passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Monday, March 18, 2013. Ken was born to the late Norbert and Elsie (Fox) Detrie March 22, 1939 in Green Bay. He married Diana Windus March 30, 1974 in Green Bay. He graduated from East High School with the Class of 1958. Ken started his career with the Green Bay Post Office at the age of 22. After 14 years in Green Bay he was appointed Post Master in Lena. He retired on November 3, 1999. He then worked part time for Firelite Ice Company in Lakewood and then as custodian at St. Anne Parish until his health forced him to retire. Ken loved bowling; he had a 297 in a Press Gazette tournament, winning a stereo of which he was very proud. He enjoyed golfing with his brother-in-law Paul Windus and others. Ken also enjoyed hunting, fishing and blackberry picking with his grandchildren as well as early morning coffee clutching with the guys at Tom's Station. He was a member of the Lena Volunteer Fire Dept., Knights of Columbus, Lena Lions and St. Anne Catholic Parish. Ken is survived by his wife Diana and 5 daughters, 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; Beth (Tom) Sconzert and children Gina and Jacob, Kristine (Fred) Verduzco and children James, Caitlyn and Logan, Dawn (Brian) Miller and children K.C. and Colt, Laurie (Bob) Sleger and children Brian (Brianne), Nathan (Amanda), Kelsie Sleger-Marsh and Aria Sleger, Terry (Chuck) Ouradinik and children Kyle Bauldry and Emma (Nathan) Clark. Ken is also survived by his brother Wayne Detrie, brothers-in-law, Paul (Evelyn) Windus, Gale (Jenny) Windus, Charles (Barb) Windus and Larry Windus and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Mary Ellen, and his mother and father-in-law Ervin and Helen Windus. Family and friends may call at Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home, 438 W. Main St., Lena Thursday, March 21st from 4 P.M. - 8 P.M. Knights of Columbus Services will be held at 6:30 P.M. with Wake Services at 7 P.M. Visitation will continue Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church, Lena from 10 A.M. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon with Father Celestine Byekwaso officiating.
