Marjorie L. Petersen, age 95, of the Villas of Felician Village, Manitowoc, entered eternal life Saturday evening, October 13, 2012 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.
Marjorie was born on January 19, 1917 in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late Lake Michigan and Loretta Esther Nemacheck Smith. Marjorie was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1934. She was employed with Sorge Dairy from 1941 until she retired in 1980. On January 27, 1940 she married Vinton (Pete) Petersen in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1984. Marjorie was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Previously Marjorie was a member of the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was actively involved in her church.
She is survived by 5 children: Michael Petersen and special friend, Diane Forsyth, Naples, FL; Chris (Patrice) Petersen, Colorado Springs, CO; Ken (Mary) Petersen, Manitowoc, WI; Kay (Dr. John) Goswitz, Manitowoc, WI; Keith (Brenda) Petersen, Manitowoc, WI; 11 grandchildren: Lisa Strickland, Tim Petersen, Brian Petersen, Michael Petersen, Jessica Peterson, Angela Kedrowski, Joel Petersen, Andrew Petersen, Katie Goswitz, Jason Lenzmeier, and Sarah Belair; 20 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Lake and Loretta Smith; husband: Vinton "Pete" Petersen; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Andy Smith; Burtt and Grace Smith; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Helen and Ed Morz; Joan and Gene Peltier; one grandson: Jeffrey Petersen; one great grandson: Joshua Petersen; one daughter-in-law: Bernadine Petersen.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Grand. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. William Van Dynhoven with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service at 7:00 p.m. lead by Deacon Rich Bahnaman will conclude the Tuesday evening visitation. The visitation will continue on Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.
