Samz, Sr., Michael J.
Michael J. Samz, Sr., age 85, of 2217 14th St., Two Rivers, died Friday morning, August 23, 2013, at home.
Michael was born November 24, 1927, in Mishicot, a son of the late Oscar and Frances (Reuter) Samz. He attended Mishicot High School and then served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On January 24, 1953, he married Dorothy Dobinski at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Two Rivers. Mike was employed at Hamilton Mfg. Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1990. He had a great love for the outdoors, a passion for gardening and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife: Dorothy Samz; one son and daughter-in-law: Michael and Martha Samz, Jr., Savage, Minn.; two daughters and one son-in-law: Susan Geigel, Manitowoc, and Nancy and Waldemar Pustol, Boyceville; and seven grandchildren: Phillip Stocker, Andrea Samz Pustol, Erich Pustol, Mikhaila Samz, Mitchell Pustol, Nikolas Samz and Madeline Samz. He is further survived by four brothers: Joseph (Audrey) Samz, Bernard (Shirley) Samz, Edward Samz and William (Annette) Samz; and two sisters: Helen (Robert) Koch and Sr. Marietta Samz; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter: Sally Mueller; a brother: Roland Samz; four sisters: Eleanore Kattner, Katherine Tomcheck, Frances Kornely and Marie LaFond; and a son-in-law: William Geigel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3218 Tannery Rd., Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Reynebeau with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church on Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:30. There will be no Monday evening visitation.
