Roger K. Boockmeier, 82, Green Bay, died peacefully Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at a local nursing home, following a courageous 2 ½ year battle with cancer.
He was born June 17, 1930, in Green Bay, to Clifford and Edna (Brockman) Boockmeier.
Roger graduated from Green Bay West High School with the Class of 1948. On February 11, 1950, he married Doris Caelwaerts at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Green Bay. They recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. After high school, Roger joined the family business, Boockmeier Sales and Service. In 1963, he bought the business and continued to own and operate it until his retirement in 1987. In his retirement, he continued service work and also drove a school bus for Lamers. Roger enjoyed traveling extensively and had visited every state but two. He also enjoyed playing cards and golfing. Roger was a member of the Pazazza Club for 45 years.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; four children and their spouses, Barbara and Eugene Duquaine, Susan and David Schoenwalder, William and Sharon Boockmeier, James and Debbie Boockmeier; 14 grandchildren, Debra Duquaine (Jim Van), Matthew and Nicole Schoenwalder, Michael and Andrea Schoenwalder, Todd Schoenwalder, Kim and Greg Leahy, Michelle Boockmeier-Boisen MD and Michael Boisen MD, Katie Boockmeier (fiancé, Chris Krohn), Amanda and Chris Kaminsky, Joshua Rhein, Jason Rhein, Thomas Boockmeier, Bradley Boockmeier, Bryan Boockmeier, Ally Boockmeier; seven great-grandchildren, Chloe, Jack, Kyle, Emma, Will, Kate, Ella; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Richard Maierle; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Virginia Miller, James and Elaine Caelwaerts, Thomas Caelwaerts, Mary and Dennis Dickinson.
Roger was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jill Schoenwalder; his parents, Clifford and Edna Boockmeier; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Margaret (Uphill) Caelwaerts; sister-in-law, Loanne Caelwaerts; and a brother-in-law, John Miller.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Friends may also call at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 341 Wilson Ave., Green Bay, from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. The Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with Rev.
