Lila M. Lechler

Lila M. Lechler, 82, of New Holstein, died Tuesday morning, March 25, 2014 at Homestead Care Center, New Holstein where she resided the past three months.

She was the former Lila Kluball, born June 29, 1931 in Antigo, daughter of the late Stephen & Hertha (Gerdes) Kluball.

Lila attended Sleepy Hollow Grade School and was a graduate of Antigo High School.

On October 24, 1953 she married Nelson R. Lechler at Peace Lutheran Church, Antigo.

Nelson preceded her in death on January 1, 1993.

Lila had worked for the Abrams family in Wausau before obtaining an office job with Standard Oil Company in Green Bay. After the couples marriage they farmed and raised their family in the Town of Eaton. After her retirement she worked at Walmart in Chilton and volunteered for Shepards Attic in Chilton where she developed many close friendships.

Lila was a very active member of Zion Lutheran Church, New Holstein and a member of the Eaton Ladies Aid.

She was a wonderful mother who shared and taught her knowledge of cooking, canning and gardening to her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children; Bruce (Joan) Lechler, New Holstein, Barb (Ronald) Dickrell, Kiel, Bernice (Tom) Haas, Kiel, Joanne (Richard) Lerch, Kiel, Kenneth Lechler, New Holstein and grandchildren; Abby (Eric) Schneider, Jessica (Josh) Mertens, Courtney & Dylan Lechler, Jennifer, Tony & Aaron Schnur, Heather (David) Pendleton, Cory Fluhr, Kassidie Haas, Tyler Lechler, Charlotte (Andrew) Deehr, Sarah (Kelly) Meyer. She is further survived by great grandchildren; Ella & Olivia Schneider, Sutton, Makya & Dagane Pendleton, Jackson Mertens, Cambria & William Deehr and Tim & Emma Meyer, one sister, Donna (Bernard) Urban, Bryant, WI, her in-laws, Doris Gross, Kiel, Grace (Leon) Mueller, rural Kiel, Marianne Lechler (Art Look) Chilton, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Cody Lechler, one sister, Arlene (Roy) Lechler and her in-laws, Ray (Glorian) Lechler, Eugene Lechler and Steven Gross.

Funeral services for Lila will be held at 1:30 pm. Friday, March 28, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church (1702 Van Buren St., New Holstein) with Rev. Azor Cigelske officiating.

Burial will be in the Eaton Cemetery.

Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 11:00 am until the time of service.

Lila's family would like to extend their thanks to Homestead Care Center for the wonderful care she received.
