Robert T. "Karbo" Karbowski, age 79, of Two Rivers, died Thursday, May 22, 2014 at his residence.
Robert was born December 31, 1934, in Chicago, IL, son of the late Angeline Karbowski. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart School, Two Rivers in 1948 and Washington High School with the class of 1952. On May 29, 1954 he married Joyce I. Silbersack at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on April 16, 2010. Robert served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged from September 1957 to September 1959. He began his employment at Hamilton Mfg. in June 1952 on the Dryer Line. Robert began employment in 1964 as a Streetman for Wisconsin Public Service, becoming a Service/Streetman, retiring February 28, 1997 as a Gas Distribution Foreman. He was a member of Rudy's Athletic Club, Grumann's Athletic Club, Kaminski Plumbing AC and played for a number of softball teams including Tiny Laudes and BA (fast pitch), Rudy's Lanes, Glandt's, Kaminski Confections, Bob's Bar, and Lenny's II. He enjoyed all sports and played handball, racket ball, touch football, slow pitch softball, fast pitch softball, Tennis, golf, basketball, and bowling.
Survivors include one daughter: Tamela Clarksen, Green Bay; two sons: Kenneth R. Karbowski, Manitowoc; Scott A. Karbowski, Two Rivers; four grandchildren: Kristin (Aaron) Grimm, Shannon (Erik) Duerschmidt, Kelsey Karbowski, Reed Karbowski; one great grandchild expected in October; a sister-in-law: Karen Karbowski; and his dog, the love of his life, Sequoia. Other important people in Robert's life were: Steven Clarksen, Mishicot; Lynn Steinbrecker, Green Bay; and Patricia Finlan, Two Rivers. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
He was also preceded in death by one beloved daughter, Robyn; three brothers: Stanley (Phylis), Theodore, Raymond (Dorothy); four sisters: Tresa (Elphege) Kuenzel, Helen (Ben) Assman, Florence (Arthur) Koehler, and Ann (Arthur) Bauch.
Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc and per Robert's wishes there will be no services. Burial of his cremated remains will be at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.
