Hayes, Laura Alta

Laura Alta Hayes, age 96, formerly of Valders, entered eternal life on Monday, August 4, 2014 at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Laura was born on October 9, 1917 in Camillus, NY to the late William and Bertha Hart Ashby. On September 6, 1941, Laura married Leo Hayes in Marcellus, NY. Leo preceded her in death on September 15, 2003. Their family had moved to Valders in 1959. Laura was employed with Leverenz Shoe Factory for 20 years.

Survivors include Laura's three children: Marie Elaine Fukumoto, Kaneohe, HI; Kathleen Dawn (Thomas) Koyen, Fond du Lac; and Michael Edward (Alyce) Hayes, Two Rivers; granddaughter: Laurie (Robert) Padgett, Kaneohe, HI; four step-grandsons: Joshua Koyen, Todd, Joey, and Chuckie Zahn; great-grandson: Jared Padgett; two brothers: Robert and Elliott Ashby; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Laura was preceded in death by her grandson: Dylan Hayes; great-grandson: Ryan Fukumoto; three sisters: Grace Bane, Helen White, and Louise Nicholson; three brothers: Harold, Arthur, and Gerald Ashby; and son-in-law: Roy Fukumoto.

Private family services were held at Knollwood Chapel on Friday, August 8, 2014. Rev. Dave Beaudry officiated with entombment taking place at Knollwood Mausoleum. Online condolences may be sent to
