Frederick C. Bruechert, age 78, of Luther Manor Health Care Center, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, formerly of 1834 Fairmont Street, Manitowoc, entered eternal life Tuesday morning, May 1, 2012 at Luther Manor Health Care Center.

Fred was born on November 10, 1933 in Manitowoc. He was the son of the late Louis and Lillian Hartwig Bruechert. Fred attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1952. From 1953 to 1955 Fred served with the United States Navy over seas on the LST 1159. After being honorably discharged he returned to Manitowoc and became employed with Mirro Aluminum for nine years and then started employment with the City of Manitowoc as a heavy equipment operator until 1991 when he retired. On May 12, 1956 he married Anne Frisch at First Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. Fred was a long time active member of the AMVETS Post #99 and served as commander of the post in past years, State Chaplin, 3rd District Commander, also a member of Veterans Administration Voluntary Service, First Lutheran Church, Eagles Club, Sea Gull Club where he served on the board of directors for many years, and Sons of Norway.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Anne; two sons: Terry Bruechert, Manitowoc; Darcy Bruechert, Two Rivers; two daughters: Nancy (William) Koch, Mishicot; Cindy (Max) Marti, Wauwatosa; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two sisters: Lois Hoge, Illinois; Jeannine Herzog, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter: Mary Bruechert on May 12, 2006; four sisters.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2012 at First Lutheran Church, 521 North 8th Street, Manitowoc with Rev. Roald Harswick officiating. Following the services military rites will be accorded at the church by the AMVETS Post #99. Cremation will follow with burial of the cremated remains to take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc at a later date.
