Gerald Schuebel Obituary

Schuebel, Gerald H.

Gerald H. Schuebel, 87, a resident of the River Wood Estates Assisted Living Facility, 950 So Rapids Rd., Manitowoc, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 9, 2012, at the Aurora Medical Center of Two Rivers. Jerry was born June 26, 1925, on a dairy farm in Edson, Wis., to the late John and Clara Schiesel Schuebel. On Jan. 3, 1947, Jerry was united in marriage to the former Elizabeth LaPan in Florida, and she preceded him in death on March 15, 1979. Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict and retired from the Navy after 20 years of service. He and his family settled in Racine, Wis., where he was an electrician by trade working in the Racine and Kenosha area. In 1969, he became the owner of Scheubel's Island Tavern in Shoto, which he operated for four years, and then worked for the Mirro Corporation until his retirement.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and belonged to many conservation clubs. Jerry was a very social person.

Survivors include four children, Jerry Jr. and Diane Schuebel, Lyle and Peggy Schuebel, all of Racine, Wis.; Nita and Bob Senour, Mundelein, Ill.; Roxie and Dave Doucha, Mishicot, Wis. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Jessica Schuebel Brown, Josh Schuebel, David Schuebel, Jason Schuebel, Marty Senour, Katrina Senour Blatnik, Phil Senour, Andrea Doucha Peltier, Eric Doucha and Trisha Doucha; ten great-grandchildren; and by his special friend, Dorothy Ringmeier and their special dog "Sugar". In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Donald, a twin sister, Geraldine Schuebel Bourgoyne, and three brothers, Clarence and Galen Schuebel and an infant brother, Hilary.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2012, at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home, 344 So. State St., Mishicot, Wis., with the Reverend John Becker officiating. Relatives and friends may call after 9 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no Thursday evening visitation. Full military graveside services will be accorded by the Mishicot VFW Kempen-Staudinger-Terens Post #7753 at the Holy Cross Parish Cemetery, in Mishicot, Wis.

The Schuebel family would like to express a very special thank you to the entire staff at the River Wood Estates Assisted Living Facility, and to his many friends at the Tower Tavern in Manitowoc, for their loving and compassionate care given to Jerry during his illness. Your kindness will always be remembered. Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home 920-755-2212

Gerry and I worked together at Mirro back in the 70's and swappped many Navy stories as I am a Navy vet. He was a good hard working man and I will remember him well. Happy sailing Gerry
