Zermuehlen, Ruth C.

Ruth C. Zermuehlen, age 95, a resident of Harmony of Two Rivers, died early Tuesday morning, January 22, 2013 at Harmony of Two Rivers.

Ruth was born on December 31, 1917 in Manitowoc, a daughter of the late Leonard and Emma (Otto) Kuecker. She attended Manitowoc Public Schools where she graduated from Lincoln High School, and continued her education after high school, attending one year of Business College. On October 17, 1943, she married Harold A. Zermuehlen in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2009. Ruth worked in the County Clerk's Office of the Manitowoc County Courthouse for a number of years, and in 1967 joined the Two Rivers Public School System where she worked in the library of Washington High School until her retirement. She was a longtime member of the Lakeshore Pelletier's; the Whitecap Writers and the Wisconsin Regional Writers Assoc; and a life member & volunteer of the Wisconsin Maritime Museum. Ruth was also an active member of the Manitowoc Senior Center where she enjoyed quilting and art classes; and she was a longtime member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law and their families: Lois and Craig Krueger of Two Rivers, and their family: Holly (Halverson) and Curt Dowdy and their children: Tim, Hanna and Lucas Dowdy, Robyn (Halverson) and Joseph Tamboli and daughter, Olivia Tamboli & her son, Leo, and stepgrandson: Corey (Amanda) Krueger; Margaret and Keith Krieser of Two Rivers, and their family: Dan (Sandra Sielick-Korczak) Krieser, Heidi (Dan Mattie) Krieser and children: USMC Pvt., Erica Grenier, Kayla Grenier; Destiny Mattie, Taylor (James) Erdmann & daughter, Kiara; Megan and Isabella Mattie; Sue and Shawn Loeh and their children: Hunter and Chase Loeh; Andrew Krieser and Steven Krieser. She is further survived by a brother-in-law, Joseph Ziarnik, Florida; nephew and godchild: Tom Lalko, Godchild, Carol Van Heertum; nephews: Dan Lalko, Jon Teske and Kenneth Kuecker; her favorite boss & best friend, Lynn Theisen; other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Howard Kuecker; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: John and Elvira Lalko, Don Teske, Hazel Teske-Ziarnik; and nephews: John and Charles Lalko.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2013, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 17th & E. Park St., Two Rivers. Rev. David Arndt will officiate at the service, with entombment to follow in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. John's Lutheran Church, Friday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. There will be no Thursday evening visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ruth's name may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.

Ruth's family would like to extend a special thank you to AseraCare Hospice Caregivers, Lisa & Tammy; and Harmony Caregivers, especially Irene, Ernie and Debbie who cared not only for Mom, but her family too.
