Joseph M. Lensmeyer age 82, of 707 Forest Home Dr. Francis Creek, died Monday, February 11, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family following a six year battle with leukemia.

Joe was born on October 26, 1930 in Kellnersville, son of the late Joseph and Frances (Jirikovec) Lensmeyer. He grew up in Kellnersville and graduated in 1949 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. He served in the United State Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. On April 12, 1958 Joe was married to Janet H. Kornely at St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown. Joe worked for the Medusa Cement Company for 32 years retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek and Kubale-O'Connell VFW Post #6179 of Kellnersville of which he was quartermaster for many years. Joe was a former volunteer of the Francis Creek Fire Department and the Manitowoc County Sheriffs Department. He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and the Milwaukee Bucks. Joe also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and the time spent with his family at White Potato Lake.

Survivors include his wife: Janet Lensmeyer, Francis Creek; one son and daughter-in-law: David (Chris) Lensmeyer, rural Manitowoc; one daughter and two sons-in-law: Diane (Randy) Steffen, rural Manitowoc; Darel Biely, Francis Creek; six grandchildren: John (Kristin) Biely, Sarah Biely, Aaron Steffen and his special friend: Melissa Steeber, Derek Steffen, Jared Lensmeyer and Alex Lensmeyer; four sisters and two brothers-in-law: Mildred Hynek, Manitowoc; Esther Skubal, Manitowoc; Dorothy (Arthur) Vogel, Green Bay; Corrine Dose, Manitowoc; Bernard Shimon, Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Clara Lensmeyer, Manitowoc; Richard (Judy) Kornely, Auburn, Maine; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Frances Lensmeyer; one daughter: Julie Biely; one brother: Clarence "Butch" Lensmeyer; four sisters and five brothers-in-law: Olive (Ray) Huinker, Grace Shimon, Florence (Melvin) Herrmann, Betty (Ervin "Tubba") Lakatos, Joe Hynek, Larry Skubal and Erwin Dose.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek. The Rev. John Becker will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by VFW Post #6179 of Kellnersville. Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. There will be a parish prayer service on Friday at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. and a VFW memorial service at 7:30 p.m.

The Lensmeyer family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Barylak and his staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Care Center and Aurora VNA Hospice especially Lynn, Terri, Pam and Dawn for all of their special care shown to Joe during his illness.
