Roberta (Mert) Komorowski, age 77, a lifelong Manitowoc resident, died Monday morning, March 4, 2013 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, surrounded by her children.
She was born on September 5, 1935 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late William Kasbohm and Agnes (James) Hoffman. Mert started her education at Sacred Heart, went to Wilson Jr. High and attended Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On June 9, 1956 she married Arthur Komorowski in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2007. As her children were growing up, Mom enjoyed staying home taking care of her family. There was always breakfast on the table in the morning, lunch was always waiting for us, and always family dinners to share our day together. Mom was always involved in all our school activities, from schoolwork, to school concerts, to meets, parades and colorguard competitions. She helped make uniforms, did bake sales, chaperoning for St. Pauls drill team which later became Clipper City Shipmates. Mom did various jobs in the early years from babysitting nieces, nephews, family friends and neighbors. She groomed show dogs and painted homes. From the lowest point in the basement to the highest point of an outside house. Nothing was to big or small for her. She finally went outside to work at Aitken-Reed. Mom enjoyed her co-workers and had lots of fun. Her husband Art and sister-in-law Carol played polka music and mom was ready to help out with her voice. Her and Carol would harmonize to songs like "In Heaven there is no beer", "Just Because" and yes she finally got her bathing suit wet to name a few. Mom and Dad also took over the dance floor for a mean jitter-bug. Mom enjoyed traveling, gambling, Green Bay Packers, bowling Thursday nite ladies, and Saturday nite couples at 3 T's Lanes. Mom enjoyed being with family and friends until her illness made it more difficult. We will always treasure our memories of good times and fun times we shared together. Thank you for always being there. Your door was always open. We will miss you and love you always. Hope you and dad are dancing, singing and having the best time.
