Jay S. Barnard, age 61, a resident of Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility, died Wednesday morning, March 6, 2013.
Jay was born October 14, 1951 in Manitowoc, WI to Dale and Pearl (Prochnow) Barnard. He was a graduate of Reedsville High School, Class of 1969 and received his Bachelor's Degree from Lawrence University in Appleton in 1973.
Jay was formerly married to Lesa (Margenau) Barnard.
He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
For the majority of his life Jay was self-employed in the insurance and securities industry. His real passion, though, was music. He was a gifted songwriter, having one song he wrote recorded by a professional musician. He was also a talented piano and guitar player. He enjoyed singing and playing the piano for other residents of Rocky Knoll.
Jay was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, as well as a season ticket holder. He enjoyed attending many games, especially with his son.
Jay is survived by his son, Ryan S. Barnard (girlfriend, Christine Kuczynski) of Shorewood, WI; his father, Dale R. Barnard of Reedsville, WI; his brothers, Jeff (Gayle) Barnard of Sullivan, WI and Dale (Lora) Barnard of Reedsville, WI; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl Plate.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Alan Kubow, Associate Pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at a later date at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Appleton, WI.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
