Christel, Patrick A.
Patrick A. Christel, age 85, of 816 -27th Street, Two Rivers, died Thursday morning, March 7, 2013 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.
Pat was born August 5, 1927 in Valders, son of the late Norbert and Esther (Mallmann) Christel.
He attended Grade school at St. Mary's, Clarks Mills and graduated from Valders High School, class of 1945. On October 13, 1951 Pat married Marilyn Bohne at St. Luke's Catholic Church. Pat enlisted in the U.S. Navy in March of 1945. He was selected for officers training with the first Navy group to the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was commissoned as Lt. JG with the class of 1949. After the Navy, Pat was employed with the Hamilton Manufacturing Company in personnel, sales in the professional division and manufacturing engineering for 30 years; retiring in 1978. He played the trumpet for over 35 years, mostly with the Two Rivers City Band. Pat enjoyed wood working, carving, and outdoor activities. He loved a variety of music and enjoyed dancing to old time polkas and waltzes. Pat was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers Senior Center and Happy Hoppers Dance Club.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marilyn Christel, Two Rivers; four children and their spouses: Karl Christel, Madison, Kay and George Magnin, Madison, Lee and Amy Christel, Palo Alto, CA and Barbara Christel, Dodgeville, WI; two grandchildren: Benjamin and Sophia Christel; four brothers and three sisters-in-law: Norbert and Thyrza Christel, CT, Charles and Lenore Christel, Manitowoc, Allen Christel, Whitelaw and Don and Sue Christel, FL; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Ed Holsen, Valders, Marian (Herb) Bunke, Two Rivers and James Hansel, Two Rivers.
Pat was also preceded in death by a sister: Carole Holsen, his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Marie and RJ Bohne and one sister-in-law: Sandra Hansel.
Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 11, 2013 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the mass with be the Rev. Tom Reynebeau. Military Honors will be accorded by the VFW and American Legion posts of Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers on Monday, March 11, 2013.
