June M. Gallagher, age 79, a Manitowoc resident, was called home on Saturday morning, April 20, 2013 surrounded by her loving family after a 3 year courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born on February 14, 1934 in Maple Grove, daughter of the late Al and Mary (Kirby) Cavanaugh. June was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1952. On November 3, 1956 she married James Gallagher at St. Paul Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2000. June's passion was to help people in need, doing hospice and home care, writing poetry and making Valentines for the shut-ins. She will always be remembered for her inspirational cards and notes along with many cheery stickers & confetti to brighten any ones day. June especially loved gatherings with her clan, breakfast group, family camping trips, neighborhood gatherings, polka music and pulling out the polka cello and most recently her writing club. She was a proud grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved them to the moon and back!

Survivors include six children and their spouses: Mike Gallagher, Manitowoc, Kathy and Peter Waak, IL, Dan Gallagher, Manitowoc, Tim Gallagher, Manitowoc, Mary and Dave Fabian, Manitowoc, Maureen and Peter Herrmann, Port Washington; six grandchildren: Pete Waak, Brian (Jamie) Waak, Brooke (Peter) O'byrne, Kelly Herrmann and her fiancé Bobby Stewart, Jordan Herrmann, Jacob Fabian; one great-grandchild expected in October; two brothers and sisters-in-law: her twin John and Gail Cavanaugh, Manitowoc, Robert and Luann Cavanaugh, Manitowoc; two sisters: Margie Friedland, Manitowoc, Alice Baryenbruch, Green Bay; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Donald and Pat Gallagher, Manitowoc, Joan Reich, Two Rivers. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by many brothers and sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dave Pleier. Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc and June will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc following Mass.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM led by Deacon Alan Boeldt. The visitation will continue on Saturday morning, April 27, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo from 9:00 AM until 10:15 AM.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Barylak, Dr. Rhode, nurses (angels) and staff at Vince Lombardi Cancer Center, The Aurora Visiting Nurse and Hospice Team (angels). A special heartfelt thank you to family and friends for the overwhelming support and love through out this whole journey.

It has been an honor & privilege to see our mother to the end of her journey here on earth!
