Joan G. Moore, age 82, a resident of St. Mary's at Felician Village, Manitowoc, formerly of Two Rivers, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 15, 2013.
Joan was born May 16, 1930, in Cleveland, WI, a daughter of the late Dr. Zenas L. and Winnifred (Evans) Williams. She graduated from Central High School in Sheboygan, with the class of 1948 and then attended the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse. On December 30, 1950, she married Thomas J. Moore in Sheboygan and became a Navy wife for twenty years, taking care of family and home while her husband was away for extended periods of time. She was accepting and ready to move at a moments notice living near navel bases in Connecticut, Rhode Island, California and Hawaii. After returning to Wisconsin in 1970, the couple settled in Two Rivers. Joan was a longtime member of Grace Congregational United Church of Christ where she sang with the church choir for many years. She was a board member of the Manitowoc County Easter Seal Service Unit and a member of the Two Rivers' Woman's Club. Joan was also a cancer survivor of 32 years and a volunteer driver for the Cancer Society's Road to Recovery Program, and the Meals on Wheels Program. Joan enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, spending time with family, cooking and entertaining.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Colleen and Jim Wadtke, Las Vegas, NV, and Jennifer Moore, Austin, TX; one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Lynn Moore, Manitowoc; four grandchildren: Melissa Moore, Brianne Wadtke, Brian Wadtke and Lauren Frozena. She is further survived by a brother-in-law: Bud Hardt, King, WI, three nephews; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas on December 22, 1986; one brother, Lloyd Williams and a sister, Lois Hardt.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, 2801 Garfield St. Two Rivers. Rev Kim Henning will officiate at the service.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Grace Congregational Church, Monday afternoon, May 20, 2013 from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. There will be no Sunday evening visitation.
