Kamke, Harold J. "Hal"

Harold "Hal" J. Kamke age 77 formerly of Manitowoc and currently of Mesa, AZ went to be with his Lord Monday morning, June 17, 2013 in Manitowoc following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Hal was born on October 6, 1935 in Manitowoc, son of the late Lester and Beatrice (Clark) Kamke Sr. He grew up in Manitowoc and was a 1954 graduate of Manitowoc's Lincoln High School. Hal served his country as a member of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict 1954-1958. On September 5, 1964 Hal was married to the former Karen A. Haupt at First German Ev. Lutheran Church. Hal was an American Family Insurance Agent for 30 years in Manitowoc retiring in 1997. He received many awards from American Family while he served as an agent. He is a member of Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church in Chandler, AZ and a former member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. In the past Hal served Bethany as a member of the church council and as a Sunday school teacher. Currently he was an active member of American Legion Drews-Bleser Post #88 of Manitowoc, Apache Wells Beautification Committee, Apache Wells Security Patrol and helped deliver Apache Wells news communications. Hal enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, golfing, fishing, volunteering and helping others. He was an avid WI Badger and Green Bay Packer fan. He enjoyed watching Packer games with his friends and family, having a sip of Dr. McGillicuddy's with every score. Hal and Karen were blessed to have many good friends in WI and AZ.

Survivors include his wife: Karen; two daughter's and two son's-in-law: Dawn (Guy) LeClair, Manitowoc; Tammy (Philip) Dhein, Cleveland; one son: Chad Kamke, Manitowoc; four grandchildren: Kristin & Ryan LeClair, Manitowoc; James & Joseph Dhein, Cleveland; one sister and brother-in-law: Linda (George) Tanner, Montello; one sister-in-law: Debbie Kamke, Minot, ND; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lester and Beatrice Kamke Sr.; and one brother Lester Kamke Jr.

A memorial service will be held on Friday June 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane Manitowoc, Rev's. Robert Kujawski and Stephen Melso will officiate. Cremation has taken place with entombment of his cremated remains to be made in the Knollwood Mausoleum at a later date. American Legion Drews-Bleser Post #88 of Manitowoc will accord military rites at Bethany following the memorial service. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Hal's name to Manitowoc Lutheran High School, Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church or Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is serving the Kamke family.
