Eisner, Alice A.

Alice A. Eisner, age 93, a resident of the Felician Village, Manitowoc, died Friday evening, June 21, 2013 at St. Mary's Felician Village, Manitowoc.

She was born on January 20, 1920 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Joseph and Ida (Neumeyer) Backhaus. On November 8, 1941 she married Paul J. Eisner at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alverno. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1989. Her faith was very important to her, she was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, formerly St. Joseph Parish, where she was a lifetime member. Alice was a member of St. Joseph Christian Mothers and a 75 year member of the Catholic Knights. Alice enjoyed volunteering at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center for many years and enjoyed crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. The highlight of her day was seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her daily visits with her children.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law: Rose Marie Eisner, Manitowoc, Patricia & Robert Langlois, Francis Creek, Mary & Mark Boeckman, Manitowoc; six sons and five daughters-in-law: John Eisner, Francis Creek, Gerald & Barb Eisner, Crivitz, Thomas & Sharon Eisner, Manitowoc, Daniel & Ann Eisner, Manitowoc, Kenneth & Doris Eisner, Allenton, WI, Paul & Mary Jo Eisner, Pittsburgh, PA; 29 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; one sister: Ruth Spatchek, Brillion; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Allen & Genevieve Backhaus, Newton, James Backus, Kaukauna; four sisters-in-law: Ethel Backus, Gertrude Backus, Jeanette Herrmann, all of Manitowoc, Byrnce Riesterer, St. Nazianz; and a brother-in-law: Vernon & Marcy Eisner, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by three brothers: Paul Backus, Robert Backus, Raymond Backus; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Marie & Henry Miller, Charlotte & Edward Ebenhoe; four brothers-in-law: Rolland Spatchek, Lloyd (Leona) Eisner, Norbert Herrmann, Lester Riesterer; and a sister-in-law: Darlene Backus.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2013 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Alverno.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call Friday morning at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, a donation will be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
