Raymond C. Ahl, age 78, a Manitowoc resident, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.

He was born on November 16, 1934 in Manitowoc, son of the late Joseph and Elsie (Augustine) Ahl. Raymond was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1952. He then entered the United States Army stationed in Germany. Raymond then attended the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh, graduating Summa Cum Laude and then earned his Master of Arts Degree from Marquette University, also graduating Summa Cum Laude. On July 30, 1960 he married the former Ruth Schnell in Osman. Raymond was a professor at Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, and Vice-President of Finance also at Silver Lake College until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph's Board of Education.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years: Ruth Ahl, Manitowoc; a son: Jon Ahl, Whitelaw; three grandchildren: Kayla Schisel, Tyler Ahl, Jared Ahl; a great granddaughter: Aurelia Schisel; one brother and two sisters-in-law: Norbert & Pat Ahl, Clarks Mills, Jane Ahl, Manitowoc; and five sisters and three brothers-in-law: Alice & Tony Reimer, Manitowoc, Mary Ann Gallenberger, Milwaukee, Bernice & Jerome Brandl, Pewaukee, Elaine & Al Meyer, Manitowoc and Frances Miller, Manitowoc. Also surviving are close friends: Diane Stronach and family, Black Creek, Kathy & Dick Peterson, Darboy. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Robert & Dolly Ahl, Gerald & Nelda Ahl, Jim Ahl; and a sister and brother-in-law: Dorothy & Harold Hibbard.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen. Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post #88. Cremation will occur at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc following the service. Burial of his cremated remains will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Alverno, at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m (TONIGHT) Friday, August 16, 2013. A prayer service will conclude the visitation at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call on Saturday morning, August 17, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
