Borucki, Richard Roger

Richard Roger Borucki, 79, of Westminster died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at his home.

Born December 2, 1934, in Manitowoc, WI, he was the son of the late Frank and Caroline Nedvecki Borucki. He was the husband of Angela D. (Kilchenstein) Borucki, his wife of 53 years.

Richard was a graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering and was a Marine Corps Veteran serving from 1953 until 1955.

He was an Engineer for Bendix, now known as Honeywell, and a pioneer of the space program contract for NASA. This began as the Mercury program living in California, Arizona, Bermuda and ending his career at Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland.

He was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus at St. John Catholic Church, the Westminster Elks Lodge #2277, V.F.W. #467, American Legion #31 and a member of the Color Guard of the Westminster Marching Band.

Richard was an avid golfer and enjoyed making crafts and woodworking projects for friends and family. He was a devoted sports fan and his favorite teams were the Baltimore Ravens, the Green Bay Packers and the Baltimore Orioles.

Surviving in addition to his wife are sons and daughters-in-law, David R. and Diane M. Borucki of Columbia, MD, Joseph F. and Bonnie L. Borucki of Westminster, MD and J. Craig and Melissa C. Borucki of Hanover, PA; brother Robert F. Borucki of Green Bay, WI; sister Betty B. Kattner of Milwaukee, WI and grandchildren Bryan, Amanda, Christopher, Jessica, Benjamin and Rachel Borucki.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 9 pm and Friday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster, MD 21157.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 1:00 pm at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, MD, with Father John Lesnick as celebrant. Interment with military honors will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Westminster.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, MD 21157.
