Joseph H. Sukowaty, age 81, of 1109 S. 25th street, Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning February 17, 2016 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.

Joseph was born on December 24, 1934 in Manitowoc, son of the late Ambrose and Salome (Schmitz) Sukowaty. He graduated from Valders High School with the class of 1953. Joseph served in the United States Army from 1954 until 1956. Joseph was employed with Kramer Machine Inc. until his retirement. He was a generous supporter of The Salvation Army, helping local families in need.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law: Susan and Kenneth Curtis, Manitowoc, Judy Sukowaty and Joe Gunzel, Manitowoc; three grandchildren: Lindsey Sukowaty, Manitowoc, John Vernon Joseph Boutwell, Manitowoc, Logan Wilson, Manitowoc; two step grandchildren: Kayla Curtis, Manitowoc, Christopher Curtis, Texas; one great grandson: Talon Crane; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Leroy and Virginia Sukowaty, Valders, Herman Sukowaty, Valders; mother of his children: Beverly Escher, Manitowoc; his feathered friend: Odessa. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Joseph was also preceded in death by one daughter: Carol Sukowaty; one granddaughter: Carmen Boutwell; one brother and sister-in-law: Gregory and Lucille Sukowaty; one sister and brother-in-law: Vivian and George Muench; one Niece: Debbie Sukowaty.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Chaplin Carla Schommer. Entombment will be at Calvary Chapel Mausoleum, Manitowoc, at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 12:30 PM until 2:15 PM on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc.

Joseph was very passionate about his faith, Christianity and the Bible. He was a hard worker, provided for his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Joseph will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Holy Family Hospice and Shady Lane Nursing Care Center for their compassionate care and support given to Joseph and his family.
