Dear Valerie, Brian and Terrence,
Marie-Odile, Philippe-Gabriel, Geoffroy-Thibault and I are very fortunate to have known Tom and to have his company and friendship for all these years. We will always remember him as a very kind and thoughtful person. His visits to Montreal were always a great occasion to exchange and have a good time together. We also remember our great time in New Orleans with all of you and also seeing Tom in Shanghai in 2012. We all looking forward to seeing you in person and talking about our good memories of Tom. Again our sincere condolences to all of you.

I am so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. When I was a new assistant professor at UNO, Tom was a good friend as he would share ideas, approaches or just help me become aclimated New Orleans and to the world of academe. I will always be appreciative for his thoughtfulness and guidance.

It's with great sadness that I learned of your loss of a terrific husband, father and sibling. Tom was a great faculty colleague and wonderful friend during my years at UNO. When I think of Tom, these words come to mind: Very bright, funny, practical, great teacher, extremely well-versed on many subjects and a super guy. All of us who had the pleasure of knowing Tom are richer for the experience. While I know your loss leaves a huge void, it's important to remember that the people we love never really leave us. We just no longer have the pleasure of their company. My thought and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

I am so saddened to hear of Dr. O'Connor's passing. He was my favorite professor at UNO, and served as a major inspiration in my own academic career. He would tell us all kinds of anecdotes in class based on his travels and experiences, and somehow, those stories would sneak the course information into our brains and keep it permanently registered. His legacy as an outstanding teacher and researcher will never be forgotten.

My condolences on Tom's passing. I remember saying hi to him just a few weeks ago n my way to class at UNO. It is hard to believe that I met Tom 44 years ago while a graduate student at UNO. I remember our Friday after class unwinding sessions at local watering holes and a shared love of science fiction stories. May the perpetual light shine upon him.

So sorry to hear of Professor Tom's passing. I haven't spoken to him in several years, but I cherish the memories when he would visit my store and offer me some friendly advice.
