Ellen Irene Collins
Febuary 2, 1935 - January 21, 2013
Ellen Irene Collins of Nampa went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 21, 2013 at Trinity Mission of Midland. She died peacefully with her husband by her side. She was born the middle daughter of Eldon and Sylvia Yeager in Laramie, Wyoming on Groundhog Day, February 2, 1935.
The family lived on a ranch near Laramie, where Ellen learned to ride horses and drive a tractor. Since her father had witnessed someone dragged to death with their foot caught in a stirrup, he insisted his girls always ride bareback.
On her birthday in 1947 the family loaded themselves and their belongings, animals included, into a boxcar and headed for Nampa, Idaho, where they bought a small farm. Nobody remembered her birthday. Ellen attended Nampa High School, TVCC and BSU, earning her degree in Nursing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Sheila and her grandsons Justin Arthur Codie Norman and Jon Canyon Vincent.
She is survived by her husband Prentest Woodward, her sisters Carol Grice and Elsie McDonald, her son Codie Norman of Nampa, her daughters Sylvia Norris of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Kathleen Vincent of San Jose, California, her step children Vicky Reed of Pasco, Washington, Duncan and Patrick Norman of Phoenix, Arizona and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Trinity Mission of Midland for their loving care in her final days. The family has placed their trust in Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel for their final arrangements. (208) 466-3545
