Glenn Adwin Montague
Glenn Adwin Montague, 85, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away on March 20, 2013. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 29, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 15862 S. Indiana Ave, Caldwell, Idaho. Visitation will be held at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd, Nampa (467-7300) from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m Friday prior to the services.
Glenn was born in Idaho, to John D. and Nellie Blair Montague. He married Elayne McNees in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. Glenn earned his B.A. and M.A. at BYU before teaching at Springville HS in Springville, UT, and at Righetti HS in Santa Maria, CA. He then taught at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria. There he founded the Hancock College A Cappella Choir and Hancock College Chorale. He directed the Santa Maria Symphony and helped found the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts. He also formed the Glenn A. Montague Carolers. Together with these musical organizations, Glenn gave more than 2200 performances around the world. Glenn enjoyed camping, backpacking, fishing, and singing with his family. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life.
Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, parents, siblings, and a granddaughter. He is survived by his children, Gregg (Theresa), of Lompoc, CA Julie (Richard) Hasler, of Edgewood, NM Matthew (Andrea), of Pittsburg, KS; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 50 E. North Temple St. Salt Lake City, UT 84150
