Juanita Lav Mertins
January 4, 1931 - January 10, 2014
On January 10th, 2014 at 8:30 p.m., Juanita won her race with open arms to go home to be with our Savior to sit at his feet and continue to serve Him as she had devoted most of her life doing here on earth. Juanita Lav Mertins was born to Dewey and Mildred King on January 4th, 1931 in St. Louis, MO. She was the third out of seven of the King kids.
Juanita grew up in St. Louis, MO with her family until age 12 when they moved to Phoenix, AZ where she finished school. Later, she moved to California. She started working at a pony riding track for kids. There Juanita met and later married William Carr. Together they shared their love for animals and started training chimpanzees and traveled with Bill McGraw's Motor Circus. In Santa Monica, California at Pacific Ocean Park, Juanita and William performed three acts a day for the public, meeting and working with many movie stars and celebrities along the way.
In 1958 William and Juanita were blessed with their first of three sons. In 1965 Juanita and her three boys, Chuck, Richard and Jeff Carr moved to the San Fernando Valley in California with the rest of Juanita's family so they could help her raise her three boys while she waitressed. In 1978 Juanita and her boys followed her family once again to Caldwell, ID where she lived for the rest of her life. In Caldwell, Juanita found the Caldwell Seventh Day Adventist Church and made it her new home church.
Between her extensive church family, her volunteer work at the church, the Caldwell Memorial Hospital for the past 15 years, Juanita's 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and her 2 great-great nephews, Juanita was kept very busy. She wouldn't have had it any other way. Juanita's love for her family and her church family drew her into providing home health care where she lovingly cared for numerous friends until their last days. Juanita's contagious smile, cute laugh and love of service will be missed dearly.
Juanita leaves behind her 2 sons, Chuck Carr and Richard Carr and 1 daughter-in-law, Tina Carr; six grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, 2 sister-in-laws and many more.
"We All…Love You More!"
Final arrangements were with the Potter Funeral Chapel of Emmett.
