Larry Rexroad

Larry Gene Rexroad
1939 - 2012
Larry Gene Rexroad, 72 of Boise, went to be with our heavenly father on October 13, 2012. He died of natural causes at a nursing care facility in Boise where he was seeking physical therapy. Larry was the oldest child of Harold and Jean Rexroad and was born in Boise, ID on December 3, 1939. Larry was raised in Kuna, ID and graduated from Kuna High School in 1957. Upon graduation he served in the Air National Guard for 6 years.
In June 1960, Larry married Lauretta Nichols and together they were blessed with two children; Randy and Rebecca. They raised their family in Boise and were divorced in November 1985. In 1986, Larry met Evanel Nelson who he married in October 1989. They spent several happy years together in Boise and recently celebrated 23 years of marriage. Being raised on a farm, Larry understood the meaning of hard work. Larry found great joy at an early age working with people as his first job was running his own milk route. He worked at Standard Oil which led to him running his own Chevron Service Station in Boise. Years later he worked for Schwan's and the Idaho Statesman. In 2000, he started delivering mail to Atlanta, ID before retiring in December 2010. The common ground Larry had with all of his jobs was his passion to work with people while serving the public. He was a very kind and caring person who was generous in providing a helping hand to others in need. Larry was actively involved in the community. He was a Mason for 43 years serving as past master of the Meridian Masonic Lodge #47, past President of the Hawthorne Elementary PTA, a director for his church's A.W.A.N.A.'s program for youth, and a teacher of Hunter Safety. Larry loved the great outdoors and had many years of enjoyment while camping, hunting and fishing with family and friends. He loved living in our beautiful state of Idaho and the drive to Atlanta, ID never grew tiresome to him. Along this journey, Larry took many pictures of different wildlife that are endless, along with the many stories. Larry is survived by his wife, Evanel, his two children, Randy Rexroad of Reno, NV and Rebecca Stiehl of Meridian, ID. His 4 stepchildren, Kathy (Pat) Boysen, Blaine (Kerry) Nelson, Bryan (Cheri) Nelson, and Brad (Zina) Nelson; his one grandchild, Kaylee Stiehl, and 12 step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren; his siblings, Linda Blake and Barbara Gamel of Boise, and Janie Roberton of Ontario, OR. Another family member is Larry's beloved dog, Ringo, who traveled every day to Atlanta with him. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Jean Rexroad and his brother Raymond Rexroad. A viewing will be held Tues., Oct. 16th from 6-8 p.m. at Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise. An Interment service will be held on Weds., Oct. 17th at 3:30 p.m. at Kuna Cemetery. Immediately following, 4:30 p.m., a memorial service will be held in the music auditorium at Kuna High School, 637 E. Deer Flat Rd.
