Marvin Huling(1932 - 2013)

Marvin Lee Huling Sr. went home to be with Jesus on April 14, 2013 leaving the loving home of his daughter Mary and her family in Casper, Wyoming. Marvin was born July 31, 1932, in Nampa, Idaho to Oren George and Mary Esther Huling, the youngest of seven children. He attended school in Nampa followed by service in the National Guard and U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country aboard the U.S.S. Anderson during the Korean Conflict. On November 28, 1952, Marvin married Madelyn Saltsman. Following his honorable discharge they moved to Nampa where their son Marvin Lee Jr. was born. Following their short marriage Madelyn and Marvin Jr. moved to Pennsylvania and eventually to Louisiana. On February 14, 1961, Marvin married Lettie Potts in Redmond, Oregon. Marvin and Lettie made their home in Nampa where they raised their two children Stephen and Mary. Marvin and Lettie also opened their home to foster children Sandra, Rucila and Junior Gonzales.
Marvin's professional career as a banker included time with Idaho First National Bank, Treasure Valley Bank and eventually retiring from Key Bank. As a member of Nampa First Church of the Nazarene he served many years as a church board member, Boy Scout leader, and bus driver transporting children and disabled folks to church. He served many years as a board member for Nampa Christian Schools. He was a member of Civitan, and a Stampede Rodeo volunteer. Marvin and his brother Chester later volunteered for Mercy Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary.
Marvin and Lettie celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary on February 14, 2001. Marvin provided loving care for Lettie five years through an extended illness until her death on May 8, 2001. Today they are reunited.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Orville, Fred, Ruth, Myrtle, Grace, and Chester. He is survived by his children, Marvin (Red) Huling Jr. and wife Shan of Gretna, Louisiana, Stephen Huling and wife Sheila of Nampa, Idaho, and Mary (Huling) Bliss and husband Jarvis of Casper, Wyoming. He regretfully leaves his much loved grandchildren, Jason and wife Lana, Jennifer, Christopher, Zachary and wife Krysta, Courtney, Joshua, and Daniel. He also regrets to leave his great grandchildren Evan and Wyatt and another great grandchild soon to be born. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Maxine Huling, numerous nieces, nephews and their children.

A Memorial Service for Marvin will be held at Nampa First Church of the Nazarene, 601 16th Ave S, Nampa, ID, Saturday May 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
