Mary "Lorraine" Luce
May 12, 1918 - April 14, 2014
Mary Lorraine Luce, 95, our loving Mother, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at a Nampa Care Center.
Lorraine was born May 12, 1918 in Garden Valley to Bayard and Emma (Scanlan) Prestel. As the youngest of their three children, she went to a one-room school graduating in 1936 from Garden Valley high school. In the summer of 1936 she met Kelly Luce and they were married in Boise June 4, 1938. They lived in Garden Valley and New Meadows until purchasing a farm south of Kuna in 1941. In 1945 they bought a dairy farm south of Nampa raising registered Guernsey and selling grade A milk. They farmed until 1982 when they retired.
Lorraine was a member of St. Paul's' Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. She also did volunteer work as a "pink lady" at Mercy Hospital in Nampa. She and Dad enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and traveling with friends with the Good Sam's Club. Lorraine enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, crocheting, and cooking for her family. Her family favorites were homemade rolls, chicken and noodles, and pies.
She is survived by four daughters; Rosalie and Barbara of Boise, Linda Johnson (Gary) Nampa, and Kathy Dudley (Bill) of Boise. Lorraine greatly enjoyed her four grandchildren; Derone (Katie) Johnson of Boise, Kelli Johnson of Houston, Texas, Jerad (Sharra) Crawford, and Cody Dudley all of Boise. She also had 5 great grandchildren; Alyssa, Reggie and Zachary Johnson and Dylan and Mya Crawford plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Lorraine's husband James Kelly Luce, brother Keith Prestel, sister Lucille Osborn and her parents preceded her in death.

The family will greet friends and family at a visitation on Monday, April 21 from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M.
