Michael Drinkard

Michael Homer Drinkard
February 4, 1953 - June 29, 2013
Michael Homer Drinkard passed peacefully, on June 29th, 2013 at the young age of 60. He was a wonderful husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle and friend to all who got the privilege to know or meet him.
Michael was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 4, 1953. He lived the first five years of his life in Detroit then moved to Los Angeles, CA, followed by a move to Northern California. He then began his high school year at Payette High in Payette, Idaho. Immediately after high school he joined the United States Army. He served in Vietnam as a radio repair man. Michael received a Bronze Star and was honorably discharged in 1972.
Michael met his lifetime partner and best friend Molly in Portland, Oregon in 1978. They married in 1979 in Yakima, Washington. The happily married couple moved to Marsing, Idaho in 1982. Two years later they were blessed with their one and only child, Koetta (Katy) Drinkard-Blackwell. In 1987 Mike, Molly and Katy moved to a small town in California where Michael joined his brother Matt in building Cogeneration Power Plants. Mike continued building and maintaining power plants until he retired in 2003. In 2005 Michael and Molly moved to Nampa, Idaho to be closer to family.
He was a very hard working man. He worked long, hard hours as an Electrician to provide a wonderful life for his family. He was a man of honor and integrity. He was funny, full of life and loved to be our doors. His favorite place to visit was Melaque, Mexico, where Mike and Molly spent most of their winters dancing and enjoying the sun. When he wasn't sitting in sand, he enjoyed camping, shooting, and boating with his nephews and four grandkids. They made him feel like a kid again. But his favorite way to spend his time was "working" and building things with his grandson Dylan. Over the years he built a father/son relationship with his nephew Gabe, who he considered "the son he never had". Mike's main goal in life was to make people smile.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and three brothers. Michael Homer Drinkard is survived by his wife Molly, daughter Katy who he was so proud of and four grandkids, brothers Jeff Drinkard and Jim Drinkard. Mike also leaves behind six nephews, three nieces, a great nephew, great niece and many special friends all the way from Mexico to Northern British Columbia. Michael we will love you forever and you will be missed dearly. Enjoy your family reunion, Mikey.
