Polly Louise Kingston
September 1, 1938 - April 26, 2014
Patricia Louise Wickersham (Polly) was born Sept. 1, 1938, in Spokane to Edith Mable Wickersham, and granddaughter of I. E. and Maggie Augusta Jameson Wickersham. She passed away April 26, 2014 in Nampa of colon cancer.
She attended all her school years in Clarkston, WA except when she attended third grade near Troy, MT, and lived with her aunt and uncle, Vera Wickersham and Forrest Sund on their ranch. She had such a wonderful time riding horses, skiing to the bus stop, picking wild flowers and being "Joe," Uncle Forrest's nickname for his helper.
About 1960, Polly married Delbert McHone and lived in the Lewiston Orchards. She enjoyed canning, baking and gardening, especially propagating African violets from their leaves. She also enjoyed making crafts, and her family. After a divorce, she moved to Nampa where she was employed for many years in several restaurants and the golf course.
In 1988, Polly married Charles Kingston in Nampa and they moved to Yuma, AZ. In Arizona, Polly enjoyed making and selling jewelry and carving wooden signs to sell at the flea market. Polly and Charlie spent many weekends at the market with her cousin, Lila Banks De Graf and her husband Archie De Graf.
Charlie and Polly moved back to Nampa in 2000, where she then took loving care of her husband for a number of years before his death in 2007.
Polly had attended the Nazarene Church in Nampa and was a current member of the First Christian Church in Nampa.
Polly enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, dancing, going to the Nampa Senior Center for lunch and helping others. She was a member of the Ladies Elks Auxiliary and belonged to the Eagles Lodge in Nampa. Most of all, she cherished get-togethers with her relatives and family reunions plus talking and laughing on the phone with her cousins and friends.
Survivors include brother, Gary Montgomery; children, Debra Morris, Clay and John McHone; and several grandchildren; as well as cousins that include Marjorie Wickersham Nelson, Bob Cormaney, LaVern (Bernie) and Rita Beito, Dan and Julie Wickersham, Genelle (Pete) Sund and Mike Rogers, Marilyn De Graf and Ron Halsey; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Kingston; and childhood friend, Irma Polillo.
A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., May 10, at the First Christian Church in Nampa in the Fireside Room.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Nampa Senior Center, 207 Constitution Way, Nampa, ID, 83686, or your local Meals on Wheels organization. In memory of Polly, make a kettle of chicken and noodles, have someone over for lunch, reminisce and laugh a lot.
