Corleen Litsey Obituary

Corleen Joyce Litsey
February 28, 1927 - May 22, 2015
Corleen Joyce Litsey, 88 went to be with the Lord on May 22, 2015. Corleen was born on February 28, 1927 in Walla Walla, Washington to Edwin and Lydia Sporleder and passed away on May 22, 2015 in Nampa. Corleen married Roy Litsey on May 26, 1946 and they were married until Roy's sudden death in November, 1998 while pastoring Bethel Church of the Nazarene in Nampa.
Corleen was unusually active in ministry throughout her adult life. Her passions were reaching the unchurched, especially children in every community in which her husband, Roy pastored. She was vitally involved in the Sunday afternoon children's ministries at Vida Nueva Church of the Nazarene in Nampa and she led many Vacation Bible Schools in various churches for decades. She also served as the director of N.A.S.A. (Nazarene Active Senior Adults) at Bethel Church of the Nazarene for 10 years.
Corleen always served God and the thousands of people she came into contact with in her life. She was an excellent organizer and administered a large adult Sunday school at Bethel Church of the Nazarene for many years. She also served as office secretary for most of Roy's ministry at Bethel.
Corleen loved and was devoted to her family, and not just her children and great-grandchildren. She also cared deeply for her siblings and nieces and nephews. Everyone knew that Corleen loved them and was in their corner. She loved having fun with her family and friends, always ready for a competitive table game. The love that she gave away was returned to her many times over. She prayed and prayed for her family, friends, and people she had just met, usually every day and by name.
Corleen was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, her parents, four sisters and four brothers. Corleen is survived by three children and their spouses: Tom Litsey (Georgia), of Salem, Oregon; Doug Litsey (Judy), of Indianapolis, Indiana; Debbie Koteskey (Ed), of Kalispell, Montana. Seven grandchildren survive: Lisa Litsey, Cory Litsey, Michelle Litsey, Ryan Litsey (Ita), Jennifer Gerbig (Wes), Jeffrey Litsey, (Emily), and Scott Koteskey. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren: Lexi, Maddie and Jolie Collins; Joshua Litsey; Anya and Sheridan Gerbig and Leo Litsey. Corleen leaves one brother, Bob Sporleder of College Place Washington, many nieces and nephews and many, many friends
The Celebration of Life service will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 30 at Bethel Church of the Nazarene, 3001 12th Ave Rd in Nampa. There will be a viewing for family and friends at the church from 9:30 to 10:15 AM on Saturday prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. Rd. - Nampa - 442-8171. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com.
Memorial contributions may be made to Doug and Judy Litsey's church and coffee shop ministry in downtown Indianapolis. They may be sent to Fletcher Place Church, 714 Noble Street, Indianapolis, IN 46203.
