Bonnie May Wissel

Our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother Bonnie May Wissel, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 91. Bonnie was born in Nampa, Idaho on July 3, 1921 to Clarence C. and Fay Hill. Bonnie was married to Robert Applegate. There are 5 children from this union, Keith Applegate, Judy Hamilton, Dale Applegate, Roger Applegate and Pam Strong. On June 21, 1976 Bonnie married Ralph Wissel, together they created a loving home, welcoming all who arrived at their door. Bonnie loved to entertain and made their home a showplace for all occasions. They enjoyed traveling the U.S. and abroad and to their quiet little spot in Donnelly. She and Ralph were honored for their long time service in the Idaho Farm Bureau. Bonnie was also active in and held office in many organizations including Idaho State Board of Cosmetology, Soroptimist, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, where she served as state regent, Women's Century Club, Majors and Minors and Nampa Chamber of Commerce. She also spent countless hours doing volunteer work. Bonnie attended Beauty College after High School, and was an instructor of cosmetology for a period of time. She then owned and operated Bonnie's Beauty shop until retiring at the age of 85. She loved her large family and her many friends. She is survived by her 5 children, Keith and Pat Applegate, Judy Hamilton, and her family, Debbie Hamilton Allen, Derick, Nikki, Corbin, Mason and Sophia Allen; Lindsey Mahala Allen, Gage Church; Casey, Amy and Morgan Allen; Davey, DJ, and Hailey Hamilton; Dale and Laurie Applegate, and his family, Dale Robert and Shannon Applegate, Rob , Deanna and Rachel Fields. Roger Applegate and his family Emily and Les Adams and Erika, Bryan and Abby May Applegate. Pam and Don Strong, and her family, Jessi Strong, Litsa, Jordan and Renee Strong and Kade. She also will be missed by her constant companion and protector, her dog Presley. She is also survived by Ralph's children and their families, Clinton, John, Carolynn, Kathryn, Marybeth, Anne, Judy, Paula, Michael, Matthew, and Rebecca. Her husband Ralph, her parents Clarence and Fay Hill, her brother Warren J. Hill, and her grandchildren Kim Louise Applegate and Don Applegate preceded her in death; she was last of her generation. The family would like to thank "her girls" Ruth, Cindy and Janice who gave her such loving care. We appreciate Homewatch Caregivers for providing us with such wonderful people to help care for her. Also, thank you to everyone at Liberty Dialysis for caring for her. A Rosary will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at the Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. So., Nampa. The family will greet loved ones and friends at the funeral chapel on Saturday evening from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 10, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1515 8th St. So., Nampa. Donations may be made to Nampa Dog Park, or as we know she would have done, flowers may be sent.
