Donald Eugene Cuttlers "Don or DC", 66, of Nampa, Idaho passed away Friday, November 4, 2011, in his home after a battle with cancer.
The Guest Book is expired.
Born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on September 27, 1945, Don was the fifth of nine children to Sidney Emit 'Siy' and Lulu Mae Cuttlers. During the spring of 1946, Don's family moved to Nyssa, Oregon, and then in 1958, they moved to New Plymouth, Idaho. During his youth Don was involved with the Future Farmers of America and school sports. He graduated from New Plymouth High School in 1964.
Don enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1964, serving four years with the Army Security Agency. He met his wife, Takako Yamamoto, while stationed in Japan and they were married in 1969.
Upon returning to Idaho from Military Service, Don worked at Safeway, Grover Electric and Plumbing, and most recently at the College of Idaho. He enjoyed the friendships with co-workers and solving the variety of projects at work. His involvement and dedication at the College of Idaho was especially rewarding and he retired from C of I in May 2011.
Don devoted time outside of family and work to the Boy Scout of America. As Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 118 and Troop 160, Don's good nature and commitment undoubtedly helped many young men develop honorable character, leadership, and citizenship skills. He was proud that both sons reached the rank of Eagle Scout. Later in life during his free time, he completed many home remodeling and property management projects.
He enjoyed traveling and spent many weekends with his family on memorable hiking and camping trips to beautiful locations in Idaho and Oregon. Vacations with his wife also took him to Hawaii, Japan, England, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. The countless family holiday gatherings with his large extended family were always a highlight for Don.
Don is survived by his wife, Takako; his two sons, Chris and his wife Melanie; Brian and his wife Monserrat; his three grandchildren, Cassandra, Nickolas, and Samuel; eight siblings, Aaron (Mary Ellen), Leonard, Lloyd (Kathy), George, Charlotte (Mike Jones), Louis (Sherrie), Margaret (Larry Cobb), and Ed (Carole); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday November 8, 2011 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nampa, followed by internment services at 1:00 p.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. An online guest book may be signed at www.nampafuneralhome.com The family suggests donations in honor of Don can be made to Boy Scout Troop 160 of St. Paul's 1515 8th Street S. Nampa, ID.
