Evelyn Olsen

1926 - 2011

Evelyn J. Olsen, 84, Caldwell died Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at a local hospital of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 7, at the LDS church on old Hwy. 30, with a viewing one hour before.
A funeral service will also be held Tuesday, May 10, at 2 p.m. in Bern, Ida.
Internment will be in Ovid, Ida., Cemetery.
Evelyn was born Nov. 4, 1926, in Garland, Utah and was the third of six children, born to Roscoe and Hortense (Horsley) Johnson.
She attended various schools in Idaho, Nevada and Utah. Evelyn graduated from Utah State University in 1948.
Evelyn met Glen while attending school in Logan, Utah, and was married in Ovid, on Oct. 17, 1947.
She taught school in Ovid, and Parma. She and Glen homesteaded on an irrigation project north of Caldwell.
While she and Glen raised five children, Evelyn volunteered library services for several schools. Later she became employed with the Meridian Library.
An avid reader, Evelyn could always be found with a book or a crossword puzzle. She was a faithful tender of livestock on the homestead. She also loved to go camping and could identify all the trees, flowers and wild life around her.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Glen Olsen, three sons, and two daughters; David (Pam) Olsen, Mark (Shirley) Olsen, Spencer Olsen, Jody (Gerino) Mirabal, and Michelle (Ray) Smart. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
