Gordon joined a brother Gerald and a sister June. Gordon attended Mora grade school though the 8th grade and attended Kuna High School until graduating in 1954. While growing up Gordon enjoyed 4-H and rodeo. While in high school he met the love of his life Rose Mary Jones. They spent the next 56 ½ years raising their family and working together. To this union four beautiful children were born; Gregory, Karla, Gary and Gilbert.
In 1955 Gordon bought their first home in Nampa, and the journey began. Gordon first started working in the construction business, being able to dump the first load of rock in what became Brownly Dam. Gordon's lifelong dream was to be a cattle rancher. So in 1959 he started his herd with a milk cow. For the next 29 years he rented different ranches and moved to different areas. With each place being a bigger ranch. In 1983 he reached his peak 3500 mother cows. In 1988 Gordon and Rose moved back to Castle Creek and continued to ranch. Over the next 25 years you could find them attending cattle sales, spending time with the grandkids, or just traveling around enjoying life. But whatever they were doing it was together.
Gordon was successful in his life due to hard work, honesty, and the help of his family. Gordon stressed to his family that if he couldn't teach them anything else, he could teach them to work.
