Herbert W. Pipkin, 95 of Nampa passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at a local care center. He was born July 24, 1917 in Pocatello, Idaho to Archie and Edna Craw Pipkin. He was married to Mary Adelia "Dee" Davis Homer in 1937. They resided in many states but returned to their roots in Idaho. In their early years, Herb owned an appliance store and a plumbing store in Nampa. Most of his life he was involved in sales which included real estate. He served as the President of the Nampa Lions Club when the property for the Lions Park was donated. He also served as President of the Toastmasters of Nampa.
Herb was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many capacities such as bishop, bishop's councilor, high councilman and spent many years serving in the Boise LDS Temple.
Herb had a beautiful singing voice and a wonderful sense of humor. He was very handy and could fix about anything.
Herb is survived by his wife of 75 years; his son Ron (Priscilla); five grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; his sister Rena Stolhand and brother Burl Pipkin. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sherrie Pipkin Simmons.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 21 at the Nampa Idaho West LDS Stake Center, 1500 Smith Ave, Nampa. A viewing will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 20 at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd, Nampa (467-7300) and at the church from 9 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the services.
