J. Van Dyne Purdum, 83 of Nampa died Monday, May 13, 2013 at a Boise Hospital.
J. was born on August 3, 1929 in Nampa, Idaho the son of John M. and Bessie Woodford Purdum. He was raised and educated in Nampa, where he graduated from Nampa High School.
J. joined the US Navy in 1950, serving in the Korean War, until his discharge in 1951.
Following the Navy, J. returned home where he began driving truck which he did until his retirement.
He was active in the Senior Center, Idaho House of Prayer and was dedicated to his family, enjoying spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to coffee with his buddies at Jackson's on Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Pat, 1 son and 1 daughter.
He is survived by his children; Chris Purdum of Salt Lake City, Utah , Kevin Purdum of Savannah, Georgia, Carol Crume of Nampa, Cheryl Sanchez of Nampa, Brian Woodford of Burley and Fae Torres of Nampa. 1 brother; Rockne Purdum. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all especially his great granddaughter, Naia
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2013 at Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa, Idaho.
