Kenneth R. Bacon
October 21, 1947 - July 14, 2013
Kenneth Bacon, 65, of Sierra Vista, AZ formerly of Payette, ID died Sunday July 14, 2013 at a hospice center in Arizona. Born to James and Delores Bacon in Ontario, Oregon on October 21, 1947 he married Phyllis and to this union they have united Theo, Tammy, Craig, Heidi, Michael, Peter, Keith, and Chrissy. Ken was a US Navy RIO in Vietnam, a civilian pilot, a patriot, a loving father, husband, and great grandfather.
Ken will be remembered for his passion for flight, his love of conversation, and his abilities to repair and operate anything that moves. Our mother never really understood Ken's passion for flying and she worried for his safety, as mothers are prone to do. Still, she was immensely proud of him for his focus, determination, and ability to care for his family.
Ken was very attached to our dad. As the younger brother (Neil), I was always amazed by their closeness, their mutual stubborn natures, and the joy they felt in their shared conversations. They were inseparable in sprit. The greatest freedoms of my life, I owe to Dad and Ken for their unflagging ability to solve life's issues and free me to the open highway.
Our parents gave us a lifelong license to explore and learn. They taught us to believe in ourselves and in each other. Ken learned his craft in our father's barn at the workbench where materials were recycled, technologies were adapted, and Ken's mechanical and electrical abilities were nurtured.
In turn, Ken's avid passion for fixing anything was contagious as he shared his passions with his children and grandchildren. He has a way of making hard things easy as he innovated creative solutions to complex challenges. Ken's passing on of the baton is his legacy now transferred to three generations. Ken's legacy are his surviving children; Theo, Tammy, Craig, Heidi, Michael, Peter, Keith, Chrissy, Ken has 60 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ken is survived by his wife, Phyllis Bacon, Ken's legacy are his surviving children; Theo, Tammy, Craig, Heidi, Michael, Peter, Keith, Chrissy, Ken has 60 grandchildren and great grandchildren, his mother, Dolores Bacon, two sisters, Phyllis Cutler and Gail Carter, and one brother, Neil Bacon, and lifelong best friend Tom Scheler.
He was preceded in death by his father and three grandchildren.
Kens' funeral service will be held Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Payette LDS Chapel at 502 S. Iowa Ave., Payette, ID at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Rosedale Memorial Gardens, Payette, Idaho.
