Robert (Bob) E. Yelm, 75, passed away May 14, 2012 at the Boise VA Hospital.
Bob was born February 6, 1937 at Genoa, Nebraska the oldest son of Emil Yelm and Rena Morris Yelm. The family moved to Caldwell, Idaho in 1953. As a young man he worked as a carpenter for various contractors. Bob married Joyce Rowell June 25, 1955 and had three children, Daniel, Michael, and Peggy. Bob joined the U.S. Navy in February 1956. He served 4 years active duty and 4 years inactive. Bob worked all over Idaho, Oregon, and Washington as a seed salesman and field man. In 1977 he formed Boise Valley Seed Co. He later sold this business then started Bojo's Seed Co. After retirement he began working again as a carpenter with his buddy, Jim Christensen, in McCall and Donnelly, Idaho. Bob loved the outdoors - boating and fishing were among his favorites. He loved people and was very outgoing.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Yelm of Middleton; son Daniel Yelm of Wilder, son Michael (Cindy) Yelm of Yachats, Oregon, daughter Peggy (Daniel) Dougherty of Caldwell; sister, Eva (Duane) Rowley of Caldwell; brothers, Richard (Alice) Yelm and Eldon (Madeline) Yelm both of Caldwell; 6 grandsons; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother; 3 sisters, Fern Powers, Dorothy Foote, and Virginia Chapman.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Valley Pentecostal Church, 2900 Life Way, Caldwell, Idaho. Internment will be at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 21st for the family. Condolences and memories can be shared with the family at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com
