Edgar Sells passed away on February 1, 2014 of natural causes at Autumn Wind Assisted Living Center in Caldwell at the age of 100. Ed was born in Howell County, Missouri on December 27, 1913 as the oldest son of Charley Edgar Sells and Bertha May Long Sells. He grew up near Willow Springs, Missouri where he attended school and graduated from high school.
He met the love of his life, Lizzibelle Hawkins, and they were married on June 19, 1940 in West Plains, Missouri. They moved to Idaho in 1942 to work in the fields. Ed entered the Army that winter and fought in the European theater as part of an armored artillery battalion during World War II. He was in Germany when the war ended in 1945 and returned home to re-start his life. In 1946 Ed and Lizzie bought a farm Northwest of Parma, where they raised their 4 sons. Together they built a dairy operation in the Apple Valley area where they resided for the next 62 years. They were married for 71 years before Lizzie passed away in 2011.
Ed served the Parma community as a Notus-Parma Highway Commissioner, served on the Apple Valley Drainage Board, member of the Old Fort Boise Historical Society and as a member of the Parma Sernior Citizens Center. He spent many days working on the construction of the Old Fort Boise replica in Parma.
In 2008 Ed and Lizzie moved into the Autumn Wind Assisted Living Center in Caldwell. The family would like to thank Autumn Wind for the loving care they received during their stay. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Charley Edgar Sells and Bertha May Sells, brothers, Arthur Sells, Roy Sells, Charlie Sells and Eugene Sells, sisters, Elsie Tuttle, Marie Hawkins and Mabel Barber, his wife Lizzibelle Sells and great grandson Keegan Shoemaker.
